Hot baskets of dim sum and a strong glass of kopi: that has been our Trang breakfast for years. Ruanthai Dim Sum now has a new home at Khuan Khanun, with a garden, a fish pond and a much bigger dining hall.
The family shop began as Ruanthai Suki, a suki restaurant near the Diamond store on the road in front of Trang station, as MGR Online's southern food column recounted in 2013.
Hia Ja, the third son who took over, loved breakfast food. With Jae Kung he turned three shophouses on Choem Panya Road into a breakfast place serving dim sum with tea and kopi, then moved to a five-unit shop on Phloen Phithak Road with room for about fifty tables, making everything in-house.
In 2026 we moved again, to Khuan Khanun near Robinson Trang, opening there on 17 February. The new home has a shady garden, a koi pond beside the dining room and a far larger hall, and the dim sum is still steamed fresh every morning.

The heart of the house: close to fifty kinds of dim sum by MGR Online's count, from shumai and prawn dumplings to buns and lotus-leaf sticky rice, steamed to order.
A truly delightful dim sum experience in Trang! The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, with a peaceful garden atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. One of the highlights is the stunning koi and arowana pond — watching the fish glide through the water adds a unique and relaxing touch to the dining experience. The food definitely lives up to the setting. Every dim sum dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. From the delicate dumplings to the perfectly steamed buns, everything was delicious and satisfying. Great ambiance, great food, and a memorable overall experience. Highly recommended if you’re in Trang!
Frog-nosed tuk-tuks carry people around Trang town, and a short drive west brings you to Pak Meng Beach and Hat Chao Mai National Park, with limestone islands such as Ko Muk out in the Andaman Sea. All four shots are of Trang province itself, none of them inside the restaurant.
